Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a program called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organization, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:

• Recycling programs for cans, wine corks, paper
• St-Nicolas afternoon with gifts for orphans
• Papers are printed recto-verso
• ‘Stop smoking program’ in place for employees
• Low energy bulbs in all rooms
• Decrease of 15% in consumption of energy (2008 compared to 2007)
• Decrease of 4.8% in consumption of water per room and night (2008 compared to 2007)
• Decrease of 17% in consumption of garbage per guest and night (2008 compared to 2007)
• Soup organized and served by employees of the hotel at the ‘Resto du cœur’
• Selling Easter eggs, benefits donated to ‘Childhood’
• Cleaning the forest in the spring
• Car Wash service proposed to clients (1 Weekend in September) , benefits donated to ‘Childhood’
• Blood donation of employees
• Second hand trade for ‘Childhood’
• Collect of clothes for ‘Terre’ association
• Hotel employees are yearly running 20 km of Brussels for ‘Childhood’
